The Reason It Exists
My name is Kyle, and I'm from the Capital Region of New York.
I built 518 Golf Hub because I was tired of jumping between three or four different websites just to plan a round of golf. Course conditions were in one place, nearby courses were somewhere else, events were posted on Facebook, and everything else seemed to be scattered around.
There wasn't one place that brought everything together for Upstate New York golfers. So I built it.
518 Golf Hub is a local golf resource built around the people, courses, events, and businesses that make golf in Upstate New York what it is.
The idea is pretty simple. Make it easier for golfers to find information, discover places to play, see what's happening locally, and connect with other golfers.
But I don't want it to just be another website full of information. I want it to become a place that golfers actually use and come back to because it helps them get more out of playing golf in this area.
Built for Local Golf
There are plenty of national golf apps and websites that do a good job serving golfers across the country. 518 Golf Hub has a different focus.
It's built specifically for Upstate New York.
There are a lot of great courses, tournaments, leagues, events, and golf businesses across this region that don't always get the attention they deserve. A lot of local golf information also gets spread across course websites, Facebook pages, social media posts, and word of mouth.
I'm trying to bring more of that together in one place.
The goal is to make it easier for golfers to discover local golf while also giving courses, tournaments, and golf businesses a better way to reach the golfers who are actually playing here.
The Honest Story
I started building 518 Golf Hub in the fall of 2025.
It's an independently built and operated project. I started with an idea, taught myself what I needed to know, and began building the site around a problem I personally had as a golfer.
That part is important to me.
I'm not building this from a distance. I play the courses on the site. I live in the area. I see the same posts, events, course conditions, and golf conversations that everyone else does.
A lot of the ideas for 518 Golf Hub have come from simply being out there and noticing what could be easier.
That's also how I want the site to continue developing. The golfers who use it should have a say in what it becomes. If something would make playing golf in Upstate New York easier or more enjoyable, that's the kind of idea I'm interested in building.
Where It's Going
Right now, 518 Golf Hub is a website. Long term, I see it becoming much more than that.
I'd like it to become the digital home for Upstate New York golf, with a mobile app that makes the whole experience even easier.
Picture a Saturday morning.
You open 518 Golf Hub and check the weather. You see course conditions. You find a tee time or a course you've never played. You see what's happening that weekend. You find a local tournament or event. You see who's playing. You discover a course, restaurant, deal, or golf business you didn't know about.
The idea is to have the things golfers actually care about in one place.
Not because golf needs another app, but because local golfers shouldn't have to search five different places to figure out what's going on around them.
For Golfers. For Courses. For the Community.
At its core, 518 Golf Hub is about connecting the two sides of local golf.
Golfers need places to play, things to do, people to play with, and information they can trust.
Courses and golf businesses need golfers to find them.
I want 518 Golf Hub to help both sides.
The more golfers who use it, the more useful it becomes for local courses and businesses. And the more courses, events, and local golf information that are part of it, the more useful it becomes for golfers.
That's the community I'm trying to build.
A Little About Me
At the end of the day, I'm just a golfer who saw something missing and decided to try to build it.
I've only been playing for a few years, but I try to get out and play as many Capital Region courses as I can. I play in a Friday night league and get out whenever life allows.
I love being competitive, but I enjoy everything around the game just as much. The courses, the people, the competition, the conversations, and the memories that come with playing.
That's what I want 518 Golf Hub to be about.
