The reason it exists

My name is Kyle, and I'm from the Capital Region of New York. I built 518 Golf Hub because I was tired of having to jump between three or four different websites just to plan a round of golf. I wanted to know the course conditions, what courses were nearby, where to grab food after the round, what events were happening, and what other golfers were doing. There wasn't really one place that brought everything together for golfers in Upstate New York.

There wasn't one place that brought everything together for Upstate New York golfers. So I built it.

518 Golf Hub is a central resource built around Upstate New York golf — a place where golfers can find courses, share information, discover events, and connect with other people who enjoy the game. The goal isn't just a website with information, but a real golf community where local golfers feel connected.

What this is not

518 Golf Hub is not trying to be 18Birdies or GolfNow. It is not a national app trying to cover every golfer everywhere. It is built specifically for local golfers in Upstate New York.

New York has some incredible golf courses that are often overlooked. The goal is to help showcase those courses and bring more attention to the people and places that make local golf special.

The honest story

I started building 518 Golf Hub in the fall of 2025 without really knowing what I was doing or where it would go. I just had a vision and a passion for something I felt was missing in this area. It is a one-person project with no big company behind it, and I think that is actually what makes it different.

I care about local golf because I am part of the same community. I play the courses on the site, I can visit the courses, and I am building this alongside the golfers who use it.

A big company can create an app, but they cannot replace being part of the community they are building for.

Every feature, update, and idea comes from actually being a golfer in this area and understanding what local golfers want.

Where this is going

In two years, I would love to see 518 Golf Hub become the ultimate connection between golfers and courses in Upstate New York — including a mobile app that makes it even easier to stay connected. I picture a Saturday morning where golfers can open 518 Golf Hub, check the weather, see course conditions, find out who is playing, discover events, and have everything they need before heading out for the day.

A little about me

At the end of the day, golf is supposed to be fun. I'm a golfer who has only been playing for a few years, but I try to get out and play as many Capital Region courses as I can. I play in a Friday night league and get out whenever life allows. I love being competitive, but I enjoy the experience more than anything. Golf is about the people, the places, and the memories made along the way.
